My assumption is that you are probably are movie or tv show fan or at-least know what those kind of people can be like. I was one of them, I used to be all up in tv shows like crazy, there was a time I was probably hooked to an average of about 20 shows at a time. Though lately, it calls for an applause if I can even get to watch just one movie in a month, I guess simply because my life priorities have changed and also quite frankly, I am practising being cautious of what I expose myself to, and a lot of what shows on our screens that I used to be cool with, I now know I'd rather not. I now question myself before hitting play. There are a lot of toxic messages on our screens being played out in such a subtle innocent way that many of us do not realise the wrong messages we are taking in. But the point I am making is this, I totally get what it is like to be hooked to a show, to hang on onto each and every episode, to each season, to never want the show to end like your life depended on it. Kudos to all the amazing actors and the entire team that brings all these stories to life, but above all, kudos to the scriptwriters who create such captivating stories for everybody to fall in on.
It is a beautiful thing coming to this realisation, that I think of God the very same way, I think of God like the ultimate scriptwriter. The Author of the story of each of our lives! He sees the beginning from the end. Just like a tv show when we are caught up in an episode where everything is going terribly wrong and we are lost in emotions and are screaming at our screens wanting to intervene or arguing among fellow fans of the show about what we think is going to happen, meanwhile the writer and all those who already know what comes next are like, "if you only knew what this twist is about to birth!". Because they know the whole story, they see the whole picture.
We give the scriptwriter complete control of how the show or movie will go, we relinquish all power and trust them to do a good job with the time and money and whatever else we invest as we get caught up in the drama of that story. But after all is said and done, it is all fiction.
The Million Dollar question is this, do we do the same with the Author of our real authentic lives? Do we relinquish all power to Him? Do we trust Him completely? Do we believe He can do the best job with our lives? Like it says in Isaiah 46:10 , do we realise he sees the beginning from the end? He made us, he made the world we live in, this is his story, and we are simply actors, we should be falling in. Or have we decided that we can do this better than He can and are creating unauthorised stories within His story? Did we seek his approval before going ahead with what we think are better plans for our lives? Do we realise we can't really see the end, I mean we can hope it goes the way we plan it to, but that's absurd, because we have no control of our future in that sense, only He can tell the future before it even happens. Where does this leave us? Labouring in vain because all the work, all the hours, all the sweat we put in will be considered null and void as it did not have the approval from the screenwriter of our lives. The bible says Proverbs 19:21 ( NLT) that many are the plans we make for our lives, but when it's all said and done, it is the Lord's purpose that will prevail.
I think for those of us that trust in Him, a lot of us may not realise it but sometimes we trust God to handle matters abcd then in other areas we subconsciously kinda sorta trust Him, but want to remain captain of the ship. I pray that we may all get to a place of total surrender, giving him full control of our lives, and that we stay there.
So how about you let go and let God, how about you give your 100% trust to the scriptwriter of your life and follow His lead.
I personally believe God is undoubtedly the best scriptwriter there ever was and there ever will be! When you let God write your life story, you are in for the best ride of your life!!! He will take you from episode to episode hanging on the edge of your seat looking forward to the next. He will keep bringing it, season after season. Amidst the laughter, tears, drama and all, in retrospect, you can't help but hand it to Him. The scenes of laughter and those of tears will all add up! The sunny and rainy days will all make sense and you wouldn't wish for a different story. In my opinion, He writes the best award winning stories of each of our lives ever!!! ....if we let Him.
Sitting at the feet of Jesus is where you prepare for all areas of your life! When you have God you have everything you ever needed for your life. In Him you have all that you need!
Let go and Let God. Surrender your life to Him. Give Him absolute control. Trust Him. You will not regret it.
Love, Ree
